Anonymalagous

The seed begins alone,
unnourished and unknown.
It must be taken away
so that it may be grown.

It is nestled deep
in soil fertile and rich.
It is watered every day.
Between pots, there is a switch.

It grows larger with the passing day.
A large bud forms on top.
Those who care for it know
that they cannot stop.

The plant is fed daily still,
to keep it living and strong.
The bud on top changes colour;
it won't take too long.

One day without much warning,
the bud is no longer there.
A flower blossoms as a result
of it getting persistent care.

Once the flower blooms its best
and shows off what's hidden,
the care seems to taper away.
Such a thing is forbidden.

Already the flower begins to wilt.
The petals fall away.
The stem discolours and
it displays its decay.

There may be time to save it.
The time must be now!
If nothing can be done,
death shall it endow.

What do you ask could be compared as such
that needs so much care and attention?
What needs so much time and gentleness
that it breaks all convention?

It's quite simple really,
and many should already tell
that love is just as fragile as this.
When it's yours, keep it well.
